How to throw a "Home Alone" Party

Every Christmas, You Hate Movies presents the annual Home Alone Christmas Party. Cinephiles, film lovers, and casual movie goers alike come together to celebrate these landmark films upon the landscape of human history. Here is how to throw your own Home Alone party.

Movies

Make the party a double feature of Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. If you truly love movies and parties, you will respect the viewing quality. Be sure to provide these films in high definition on a large format. We play the blu-rays and project them onto a wall.

We have made the decision to exclude Home Alone 3, Home Alone 4, and Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. We would rather pretend they do not exist altogether, but a distinction must be made. We only recognize the films starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister as canonical.

Food

The food at your Home Alone party is crucial. In order to pay the classic films their due respect, your food choices must be on theme. Here is an invetory of the items allowed:

• Cheese Pizza from Little Neros
• Spearmint Tic-Tacs
• Microwaved Mac & Cheese
• Milk
• Cookies
• Ice Cream Sundaes
• Crunch Tators by Frito Lay

Drinks

Providing drinks a little tricker. In the first movie, the McCallister home seems to exclusively serve Pepsi. But in the sequel, it appears that Coca-Cola payed up for product promotions. If you are a true Home Alone fan, dedicated to throwing the most pure of parties, you will provide Pepsi for Home Alone and switch to Coca-Cola for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Christmas Cookies

If you want to take your Home Alone party to the next level, you will provide Christmas sugar cookies. We decided to bake sugar cookies in the theme of Home Alone. We made:

• Homes
• Christmas Beanies
• Kevins
• Wet Bandits
• Crowbars
• Cheese Pizza

Trivia & Prizes

Put your guests to the ultimate Home Alone test and discover who is the biggest fan. We write our own questions. Some are easy. Others are difficult. Be sure to reward the winners well. Here are some suggested prizes:

• Talk Boy
• Spearmint Tic-Tacs
• Micro-Machines
• Pizza Gift Certificates
• Other Great Christmas Movies

Do you have what it takes to enjoy Home Alone in all its glory? Or do you hate parties?
